Let's bring blood donation back to Northern BC.
Plasma is a critical part of modern medicine. It’s used to create life-saving therapies for people with immune disorders, bleeding conditions, trauma injuries, and more. For many Canadians, these treatments aren’t optional: they’re essential to staying alive and healthy.
Yet Canada does not collect enough plasma domestically to meet its own needs. A significant portion of the plasma used in Canadian therapies is sourced from outside the country, leaving us dependent on international supply chains.
That reliance creates risk. Global demand for plasma continues to grow, and disruptions—whether from pandemics, economic shifts, or policy changes—can impact availability.
Expanding Canada’s ability to collect plasma at home is about more than supply. It’s about building a resilient, self-sufficient system that Canadians can rely on when it matters most.
